There are many things to do while you are here in Aitutaki. We have listed our favourites and if you would like to utilise it, we can organise it for you.

Lagoon Cruise

Aitutaki is well know for its prestine beautiful crystal clear lagoon and this is an absolute must for everyone to experience the beauty of our island.  There is snokelling involved and light lunch will be provided.  All you will need to take with you are your sunblock and camera.  You will truely be amazed at the spectacular view of Aitutaki and its surrounding lagoon.  There are 15 smaller islands which we call "motu" (moh-too) and they are magnificient and yet very alluring. Organised tours are available and ranges from NZ$70 - $90 per person.

You can take off on your own, on foot to view what the island is all about.  There are no dangerous animals and insects on Aitutaki however we do recommend you take with mosquito replent.  We reccommend you climb the only moutain (oopps a hill - 300 feet peak) we have called "Maunga Pu" and also a smaller hill "Piraki".  It is a small and gentle climber, however you will be rewarded with the spectacular view at the top.  From these points you will be able to view almost 360 degrees of whole of the island - its a real breath-taking experience.  If you do get lost, do not hesitate to ask any local as they are more than willing to give you directions.

Crab Hunting

There are no organised activities, however if you are interested in going mud crab hunting just let your host "Teetu" know that you are interested and she maybe able to organise something for you.  This is very fun but you will have to fast on your feet to catch the crab and have it for a late supper.

Local Craft Shop

The local craft shop is located in the village of Vaipae. It is stocked with island themed crafts and locally created by the local artists and carvers. They have in stock ukulele, nikau broom, natural coconut oil, tivaivai (hand made quilts) and etc.  They also provide classes for making leis but you will have to check with the shop to find out when their classes are.
